An open casting call was posted on Screenterrier to find the two young boys to star in Love, Nina, the fictionalised television adaptation of Nina Stibbe’s bestselling book, 'Love, Nina'.

Adapted by Nick Horby, the 5 x 30 minute episode series for BBC One stars Faye Marsay as twenty year old Nina who moves from from Leicester to North London in 1982 to care for the two young boys of a working single mother, George (played by Helena Bonham Carter) the editor of a London literary review.

10 year old Ethan Rouse (represented by Felix De Wolfe) in his on-screen debut, stars as Joe, the younger of the two brothers, who is small because of a chronic condition that has affected him since birth. He has a cheeky, intelligent humour, and is often playful with Nina, teasing her about her love life. He gets on well with his brother Max, but is always first to make a play for the limelight, especially when his frequent bouts of illness rear up.

Newcomer Harry Webster (represented by Curtis Brown) stars as Max, the older brother, who is relaxed and hard to ruffle. He is physically more confident than his younger brother; Max is brusque, literal and totally unfiltered.

The series also stars Joshua McGuire, Jason Watkins, and Sam Frears and is directed by SJ Clarkson.

The first episode of Love,Nina is on Friday 20th May at 9:30pm on BBC One.

About the Show

Clique is a brand new six-part drama created by Jess Brittain and written by Jess Brittain, Kirstie Swain and Milly Thomas. Childhood soulmates Georgia and Holly are only a few weeks into the so-called best years of their lives at Edinburgh Uni, when Georgia gets drawn into an elite clique of alpha girls, led by lecturer Jude Monroe. Jude’s brand of feminism is alluring, just like the circle of bright students she surrounds herself with. Georgia's effortless entry into the clique leaves Holly out in the cold. But Holly's jealousy soon escalates to panic as Georgia begins acting erratically. Alarmed by this transformation in her best friend, Holly is compelled to follow her into Jude’s closely guarded circle.

What she discovers is a seductive world of lavish parties, populated by Edinburgh's highest-powered business men and women. But it’s a world underpinned by sordid compromise, and as Holly exposes its deeply corrupt core, the danger mounts from all angles, for her and Georgia. Can Holly reclaim her soulmate? And at what cost to herself?

The 6 episode series is a BBC Drama and Balloon Entertainment Co-production for BBC Three.

Casting announced for CBBC's The Worst Witch

Filming has begun in Cheshire on a new 13-episode CBBC adaptation of Jill Murphy's The Worst Witch.

Newcomer Bella Ramsey stars as Mildred Hubble, who from a world outside of magic, finds herself landing head first, literally, at Miss Cackle’s Academy for witches. The series follows her adventures and friendships as she strives not to be The Worst Witch!

Full of flying, magic and plenty of laughs, the show brings Jill Murphy’s books to life for a contemporary audience.

Meibh Campbell and Tamara Smart (represented by Top Talent Agency) play her friends Maud Spellbody and Enid Nightshade; and Jenny Richardson (represented by Shack Attack) lands the role as Maud’s arch enemy, Ethel Hallow.

The youngsters star alongside Clare Higgins who will play headteacher Miss Cackle; Raquel Cassidy is cast in the role of Mildred’s fearsome Deputy Head, Miss Hardbroom; Wendy Craig plays the fabulously ancient chanting teacher, Miss Bat; Nicola Stephenson will play Ms Hubble; and in the role of health-and-safety-conscious teacher, Miss Gullet, is Kacey Ainsworth.

Author Jill Murphy said of the new series: “Published 42 years ago, The Worst Witch has been the cornerstone of my career. I illustrate my own books, so I am very protective about them in every way, and I'm delighted to say that this wonderful new production ticks all the boxes. There have been a few changes, to nudge the Academy into the 21st century, but die-hard fans needn't worry, Miss Hardbroom is always on hand making sure that 'Standards will NOT be slipping!' Now, when my readers ask if they can visit the school, I can tell them ‘watch the new series of The Worst Witch on CBBC and you'll feel as if you've just flown in through the window!'”

Emma Reeves is lead writer on the adaptation which is a co-production between CBBC Productions and German company ZDF, the second major collaboration after the success of the Wolfblood series.

Filming will take place on location in Cheshire throughout the summer, with additional filming in Germany, and will be shown on CBBC early 2017.

The series was last adapted back in the late 1990s for ITV, with a young Felicity Jones playing Ethel Hallow.

First look at Swallows and Amazons - in cinemas August 19th

Swallows and Amazons, which was filmed on location last summer in the Lake District, Yorkshire and Scotland, will be in cinemas from August 19th.

The team at Shaheen Baig Casting discovered six young newcomers to take on the roles of the Walker and Blackett children in the Lake District set adventure.

Dane Hughes plays John Walker, Orla Hill plays Susan Walker, Bobby McColloch as Roger Walker, and with Lily and Alfie Allen's half-sister 8 year old Teddie-Rose Malleson-Allen, the daughter of actors Keith Allen and Tamzin Malleson playing the the youngest, Tatty Walker.

The two Blackett sisters are to be played by Seren Hawkes as Nancy, and Hannah Jayne Thorp as Peggy.

The film stars Rafe Spall as Captain Flint, Game of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie and Boardwalk Empire's Kelly Macdonald as Mrs Blackett and Mrs Walker respectively, with Jessica Hynes and Harry Enfield as local farmers Mr and Mrs Jackson. Andrew Scott will star as a secret agent — by the name of Lazlow — in pursuit of the reclusive and enigmatic Jim Turner (Rafe Spall).

The tweaks to the film were inspired by the real life of author Arthur Ransome, who is now known to have been an MI6 spy. At one point, papers in the National Archive reveal, he was under suspicion of being a double agent for Russia.

The film plot will use his story as the inspiration for the character of Jim Turner, always thought to have been partially based on the writer himself.

As the children embark on their much-loved adventure story in their boats, the film promises “the real dangers of an adult world on the brink of war encroach on their paradise in the form of a mysterious pair of Russian spies hot on the tail of the enigmatic Jim Turner”.

Nick Barton, the film’s producer, said: “We’re aware that we needed to be truthful to the characters of the children, the period, the story itself, but at the same time present a film that could compete with big, modern day action adventure films.

“We felt adding this spy story gave us the perfect opportunity to enhance the action and adventure in Ransome’s stories, whilst remaining true to the text.”

Swallows and Amazons will be in cinemas from August 19th 2016.

Roles

ZOE (13/14) – Series Regular
GENUINE NORTH AMERICAN
Our heroine Zoe is brave, kind, attractive, fun and a truly gifted horse
woman… she just doesn’t know it yet. Zoe’s always been popular, she’s always
got good grades, she’s always felt like a happy kind of person… But inside she’s
often felt like something’s missing. Being cool isn’t really a big deal for Zoe,
and she really hopes there’s more to life than shopping and sleepovers.
We are looking for a genuine NORTH AMERICAN actress with strong horse
riding skills

ROSIE (8/10) – Series Regular
GENUINE NORTH AMERICAN
Zoe’s little sister. Rosie’s on a mission to bring Hollywood glamour to England.
Being the ahh-ain’t-she-cute-sister-of-Cool-Zoe had its advantages back home,
but suddenly she’s been thrust into a world with no American Eagle outlet,
limited 4G and worst of all Zoe’s new Brit friends are not cool.
Underneath it all though, Rosie’s a vulnerable 10–year old who just wants her
parents to stay together. But she rarely lets anyone in; she’s always putting on
an act.
We are looking for a genuine NORTH AMERICAN actress. Horse riding skills
are a plus.

BECKY (13/14) – Series Regular
BRITISH
Zoe’s new best friend. Becky is a one-million-miles-per-hour, motor-mouth,
joke-machine. With ideas going through her mind all the time, her mouth often
struggles to keep up (as does everyone else at the stables).
She’s laugh-out-loud funny, but not in a ‘she-knows-it-way’. She’s cheeky and
well-meaning, but often crosses the mark. She’s firm and stands her ground,
even when proven wrong, but has the tendency to look up to others and be
misled.
We are looking for actresses with strong horse riding skills

JADE (13/14) – Series Regular
BRITISH
Zoe’s new bestfriend. Jade is a walking pony encyclopedia and a voice of
reason to counter Becky’s wilder flights of fancy. There’s nothing she can’t
explain with cold hard facts and she’s always on hand with a random or useful
horsey fact. Jade excels in science and math at school but her parents are on a
mission to make her more “rounded” by forcing her to take part in musical
theatre… They’re less interested in Jade’s sporty side, and don’t really
approve of how much time she spends at the yard. But whilst Jade’s bringing
home the A grades, they can’t really stop her.
We are looking for actresses with strong horse riding skills

PIN (13/14) – Series Regular
Behind the long silences and the brooding looks, Pin’s a kind and clever boy
with a heart of gold. He’s just not that well trained when it comes to spending
time with people.
We are looking for actors with strong horse riding skills

MARCUS (15) – Series Regular
‘Boy band gorgeous with a heart of gold’
Marcus is the golden boy of the stables and Sam’s cousin. He has a deep sense
of responsibility and will do anything to help make the stables a success. He’s
a talented rider, a gifted musician and he’s super good looking.
Marcus knows that the girls call him Hot Marcus, and he wishes they
wouldn’t. He just wants to focus on riding and making music, but that’s quite
hard when you’re being followed by gangs of whispering girls…
We are looking for actors with strong horse riding skills

MIA (13/14) – Series Regular
Zoe’s nemesis. Mia’s your worst nightmare. Effortlessly gorgeous, Gossip Girl
rich, and spoilt rotten, she owns five horses and the yard and the best, handsewn
pair of breeches known to man. With a bitchy put-down for any occasion,
Mia seems to take pleasure in making others feel small and, along with lifelong
BFF Susie, she rules the roost at the stables.
We are looking for actresses with strong horse riding skills

SUSIE (13) – Series Regular
Mia’s Henchwoman. Susie’s been Mia’s BFF since they were born; their mums
were in hospital together, and their bond is even more important now Mia’s
mum is no longer with us. Loyal to a fault, Susie’s always by Mia’s side and will
happily do her bidding, even if means hurting others in the process.
Being Mia’s bf requires Susie to be pretty cutting and bitchy, but she is more
emotionally aware than Mia, and in truth she’s softer. She knows why her
friend is the way she is, and she secretly feels sorry for her.

BEN (9) – Series Regular
Ben is Becky’s younger brother, and he’s the Dreamer compared to her Joker.
Ben’s got into horses a bit later than Becky, but has learnt to gallop before he
can trot. He gets himself into many a scrape much to Becky’s annoyance and
embarrassment, and she’s always having to pick up the (often literal) pieces…

To celebrate the Euro 2016 championships, CBBC presents a brand new three part drama, Jamie Johnson based on the best-selling books by Dan Freedman.

The series follows Jamie an eleven year old boy who dreams of becoming a famous footballer, a boy who lives and breathes football.  The three episode series follows Jamie starting a new school, making new friends, dealing with school bully Dillon, searching for his absent father and trying out for the school’s football team,  all with the support of his new friends Jack and Boggy.

12 year old Louis Dunn from Manchester, stars as Jamie, in his first ever TV acting role, who landed the role after attending the open audition.

He said "My form teacher from school, Miss Connor, told me there was an open audition for Jamie Johnson as she knew that I loved football. This is the first ever acting role I have gone for."
Louis is also a talented footballer, and like his character Jamie, dreams of becoming a professional footballer one day.

11 year old Olivia Lava from London plays Jack,
Olivia, who is also a keen footballer, described how she got the part: "I never wanted to be an actress or do any acting, but it was my mum who got me into it. Her agent would find parts for me to audition for, but I would never get them. One that came up was Jamie Johnson. After reading the books, I understood what kind of character Jack was, I said to myself, “This for me!” Then miraculously, about two days after the audition I had a phone call saying that I had got the part!"

12 year old Jonnie Kimmins from Buckinghamshire, plays Boggy.

Jonnie has been going to drama classes and clubs since he was small, and said "I’ve always really enjoyed performing. I was lucky enough to work with Joe, the Director when I was about 9 years old. When he started to make Jamie Johnson, he remembered me and asked me to audition for the part of Boggy."
