Check out the exciting casting brief below for a new Sky Atlantic show shooting overseas!

Brief:

We are casting for a new Sky Atlantic show which will shoot in Calgary in Canada mid June - end of Nov. However the role we are casting for would only be needed for approx 3 weeks around October/November time.

The character is a young boy aged 8. We will consider up to age 10 if they are small. MUST HAVE OR BE ABLE TO DO A WORKING CLASS LONDON ACCENT. Please think natural though - we are not looking for the Artful Dodger!

He is undernourished, scruffy, sweet and adorable and lives with his alcoholic mum in a dirty caravan on an illegal puppy farm. We need an exceptional young actor for this role. He needs to be incredibly natural and be able to portray a range of emotions including vulnerability, sadness, terror and courage.

If you think your child is suitable for the role please tape them doing this scene. We want natural performances so parents please do not overly direct your children. Please send a link to view the tape to:

castingsky2@gmail.com

Please DO NOT send the tape as an attachment. We would like you to please load the tape to Vimeo (and password protect the clip) so we can stream the link to view. As the scene is short the file will be small so hopefully there will be no issues with this. Please do not upload to Youtube.

Apologies in advance that we can’t respond to every submission. We will be in touch should we want to invite your child in for a casting in London.

Please do NOT email us asking if we are casting for other roles.

Good luck!

Filming is underway in Northern Ireland on new Disney teen musical drama The Lodge, a 10-part series which will air on the Disney Channel in 108 countries later this year.

Featuring an international cast drawn from emerging talent across Europe, each 22 minute episode will see them rock-climb, kayak, mountain bike, sing and dance, with all the action filmed against the backdrop of Ballynahinch, Co Down.

18 year old Sophie Simnett (represented by Waring & McKenna) leads the cast as Skye, who returns with her father to her childhood holiday lodge in Northern Ireland after the death of her mother.

She is joined by fellow Brits 20 year old Bethan Wright (represented by RKA Talent) from CBBC's web series Dixi, Jade Alleyne (represented by Sylvia Young Agency) who stars as Clem in CBBC's 4 O'Clock Club, Luke Newton (represented by RKA Talent) who previously starred in BBC Switch's The Cut plays Ben.

20 year old Thomas Doherty (represented by Olivia Bell Management) from Edinburgh, in his first major TV role, plays Sean, Skye's love-interest.

The young international cast also includes Danish actress Clara Rugaard, Dutch actress Sarah Nauta and French actor Thomas Hudson.

Steven Andrew, creative director at Zodiak Kids Studios, said: “It’s a demanding show, requiring our young and talented cast to climb, kayak and mountain bike, whilst occasionally singing and dancing.”

15 year old Skye is trying to make a fresh start in a new location following the death of her mother. However, Skye’s new life will not be without complications as she navigates the everyday pressures of life as a teen; from making friends and ‘frenemies’, to a love triangle and a mystery that will shake her world.

With nine original songs, music is integral to the telling of the story, the central theme of which focuses on courage and staying truthful to who you are.

The series was inspired by North Star, a long-running Disney Israeli drama, that was identified as having potential for a remake in a musical format. It follows the success of 2014’s Cheshire-shot fantasy drama Evermoor, Disney’s first original series to be filmed in the UK and for which a 20-part follow-up series is currently being screened.

Cast by KM Casting, directed by Matt Bloom,  The Lodge will complete filming before the summer, and will be shown first on the Disney Channel in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. It is then expected to be screened on the channel elsewhere in Europe.

Meet the cast of the Doctor Who spin-off Class

Filming has started today on the BBC Three Doctor Who spin-off series Class,  a YA series set in contemporary London, which will shine a light on a whole new corner of the 'Whoniverse'.

Set in Coal Hill School, the series follows four sixth form students at the school who are facing their own fears, secrets and desires as well as navigating a life of friends, parents, school work, sex, sorrow - and possibly the end of existence.

24 year old Greg Austin (represented by Jonathan Arun) stars as Charlie. Greg who grew up in Bournemouth, graduated from Arts Educational Schools in 2013 and played Gordon Selfridge in three series of the acclaimed ITV drama series Mr Selfridge.

22 year old Fady Elsayed (represented by Troika) also stars. Fady is a British/Egyptian actor from London, whose first role was in Sally El Hosaini's My Brother the Devil, for which he got a Young Performer of the Year Nomination at the 2013 Critics' Circle Film Awards. He has just filmed a role in E4's Aliens and in Brotherhood, an independent feature directed by Noel Clarke.

They are joined by 25 year old Sophie Hopkins (represented by Identity Agency Group), who grew up in Yorkshire, moved to London in 2010 to train with Fourth Monkey Theatre Company. This is her first major TV role.

And the youngest of the cast is newcomer Vivian Oparah from London, who trained with the National Youth Theatre.

They are joined by Katherine Kelly, who takes the role of a teacher and powerful new presence at Coal Hill School.

Coal Hill School has been a part of the Doctor Who Universe since the very beginning, but that has come at a price. All the time-travelling over the years has caused the very walls of space and time to become thin. There’s something pressing in on the other side, something waiting for its chance to kill everyone and everything, to bring us all into Shadow.

Fear is coming, tragedy is coming, war is coming. Prepare yourselves, Class is coming.

Award winning YA writer and Class creator Patrick Ness, said: “We searched far and wide for this amazing cast, fantastic actors who understand what we’re aiming for with this show. And how lucky we are to get Katherine Kelly! She’s been stunning in Happy Valley, The Night Manager and Mr Selfridge, just wait until you see her here.”

Steven Moffat,Class and Doctor Who Executive Producer, says: “There’s nothing more exciting than meeting stars that nobody’s heard of yet. We had the read through of the first few episodes last week, and there was a whole row of them. Coal Hill School has been part of Doctor Who since the very first shoot in 1963, but this new show is anything but history. Class is dark and sexy and right now. I’ve always wondered if there could be a British Buffy - it’s taken the brilliant Patrick Ness to figure out how to make it happen.”

Class starts filming today in Wales, directed by Ed Bazalgette, and will premiere on BBC Three this year.

12 year old newcomer Louis Dunn stars in the title role of Jamie Johnson in a brand new CBBC children’s drama, which is set to hit TV screens around the Euro 2016 Championships and features cameos from Gary Lineker, Ruud Gullit and Notts County FC’s Roy Carroll.

Louis who is from Manchester and represented by Boss Model Management, stars in his first TV role, as 11 year old Jamie, a boy with a dream. A boy who lives and breathes football.

An open casting for boys who love acting and football was held in Manchester for the role back in July 2015.

The three episode series follows Jamie starting a new school, making new friends, dealing with school bully Dillon (played by Patrick Ward), searching for his absent father and eventually making the school’s football team, all with the support of his new friends Jack (played by Olivia Lava) and Boggie (played by Jonnie Kimmins).

Produced by Short Form Film Company, the 3 x 30 minute children’s series was filmed entirely in and around Nottingham last summer, and is inspired by the book series Jamie Johnson, written by former Football Association editor Dan Freedman.

Joe from Short Form Film Company, said: “From the first time we read the books we knew Jamie Johnson needed to be taken to the screen. It resonated with us as film makers, aspiring footballers and brought back fond memories of school life. We were delighted that CBBC shared our vision of creating a new drama series which we hope encapsulates the hopes, fears, pain and joy of our central character Jamie and all those who inhabit his wonderful world.”

Jamie Johnson has already been recommissioned for a second series, with production on the new series starting in August.

CBBC Commissioner Cheryl Taylor said: "Jamie Johnson is a wonderful new drama coming to CBBC this summer - tying in perfectly with the Euros. Although the underlying theme is football, the series is not just for football fans. The storylines have a really wide appeal for all the family."

Dan Freedman, author of the Jamie Johnson book series, said: "Children all over the country have been telling me just how excited they are about Jamie Johnson being brought to life and now they are going to see a cool, original, edgy drama that will speak to them on so many levels. I think the audience are going to absolutely love it."

The 2016 UEFA European Championship kicks off on June 10th until July 10th with Jamie Johnson expected to transmit around that time.

URGENT CASTING CALL FOR YOUNG RAPPER!

Casting brief for unnamed TV project

Please read all information on the project and information about how to apply carefully.  Please note we are NOT looking for any other roles, other than the one outlined below.

THE DEADLINE TO RECEIVE APPLICATIONS IS BY END OF PLAY THIS WEDNESDAY 13TH APRIL. DETAILS ABOUT HOW TO APPLY ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE INFORMATION.

Young boy, aged 8-11, any ethnicity, any accent.

We meet this child when he appears on a talk show after becoming a youtube sensation thru his rapping impersonations, much like Sophia Grace did after her youtube video reached millions of views and she appeared on the Ellen Show.

We do not want a child who looks like a mini gangster rapper. We want a child who is quirky, we are particularly interested in large/chubby children or it could be that they have a ginger afro or have big ears.  We are looking for suggestions of all ethnicities.  MOST IMPORTANTLY THE CHILD MUST BE ABLE TO RAP AND MOVE/DANCE LIKE A RAPPER. Someone who really performs the song, rather than stands still saying the lines.
Here is a link to a video by the singer “Drake” to give you a steer of the kind of performance we are looking for. He is singing this song, rather than rapping but it gives you an idea of the sort of movement we are after.  You do NOT need to imitate this video, your child may have their own personal flair and style when they rap, as we say this is just to give you a steer.

It is about more than being able to learn the lines to a rap, we need a child who really tries to embody their favourite rap artists when the rap along to them.  They perform with conviction, and their heart and soul.
After the child’s youtube video has been shown on the talk show the host is then overheard being mean about the child and making personal comments. It is important that the child playing this role has a thick skin and understands, that these comments are not real, they are part of the story line and in fact the joke is very much on the presenter getting caught being mean than it is about the child.

In addition to being able to rap the child needs to be able to portray being crushed and upset by the presenter’s comments.  Apart from the rapping he will have no additional dialogue but there will be this reaction shot.

HOW TO APPLY

For initial applications we would like you to film your child rapping and performing their favourite rap song.  They should perform it with the music playing in the background and they should really go for it – as we said above – perform and move with conviction! Have fun! These tapes should be 30 seconds maximum we just need to get a flavour of what your child can do.  These tapes should then be small enough in size to allow you to attach to an email. If not then please upload to vimeo and password protect.  Please do not send via wetransfer as we don’t want to have to download videos – we want to stream them.

THE DEADLINE TO RECEIVE THESE TAPES IS BY END OF PLAY THIS WEDNESDAY 13TH APRIL.
PLEASE EMAIL SUBMISSIONS TO:   bmcasting2016@gmail.com

If your application is successful we will be holding castings in central London on Sunday 17th April (you MUST be available to attend this casting) with a possible recall on either the 18th or 19th April.  We will notify you by end of play on Friday 15th April if we need to bring you in for a casting.  If you do not hear from us then I’m afraid on this occasion your child has not been successful.

Please also note the filming dates which your child needs to be available for:
Filming in London on the 27th April 2016 & there will be 1 further day filming the week of 9th May 2016.

Thanks and have fun!

The Bronte Sisters cast announced

$

Casting has been announced for the new two-hour BBC drama To Walk Invisible: The Bronte Sisters about the personal lives of the Bronte family, written and directed by Sally Wainwright, creator of Happy Valley.

The Bronte sisters’ personal lives are as intriguing as their writing: three unlikely geniuses under one unlikely West Yorkshire roof. Coming from obscurity to produce some of the greatest and most enduring classics of all time, with themes that shook the nation, Charlotte, Anne and Emily remain one the greatest literary mysteries in the world.

The drama revolves around the three sisters’ increasingly difficult relationship with their brother Branwell, who in the last three years of his life – following a tragically misguided love affair – sank into alcoholism, drug addiction and appalling behaviour. Life at home with the Brontes at this time was not a comfortable place to be, and yet from this environment sprang their remarkable literary output.

Scottish actress Chloe Pirrie (represented by The Artists Partnership) will play Emily, author of the complex and ground-breaking Wuthering Heights.

Finn Atkins will play the deeply ambitious Charlotte Bronte, who wrote the phenomenally successful Jane Eyre. Finn, from Nottingham, (also represented by The Artists Partnership) is an alumni of  The Television Workshop.

Irish actress Charlie Murphy, (represented by The Lisa Richards Agency in Ireland, who also starred in Happy Valley and The Village, will play the determined and level-headed youngest sister Anne, the writer of Agnes Grey and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.

Their brother Branwell, whose destructive behaviour threatens to tear his family apart, will be played by Adam Nagaitis (represented by Curtis Brown).

To Walk Invisible: The Bronte Sisters explores the siblings’ relationship not only with one another, but with their father, a clever and unusual man, to be played by Jonathan Pryce, who grew up in an impoverished home in rural Ireland, who educated himself, and who was happy to encourage his children – irrespective of their sex – to become passionate about literature and its possibilities.

Sally Wainwright, who won a BAFTA Television Award for best Writer – Drama, said:

“I am thrilled beyond measure that I've been asked by the BBC to bring to life these three fascinating, talented, ingenious Yorkshire women.”

Executive producer Faith Penhale said: “To bring such fresh and exciting talent together for To Walk Invisible is testament to Sally's extraordinary script, which sets out to tell the true story of this iconic literary family. Together with the wonderful Jonathan Pryce, Chloe, Finn, Charlie and Adam will show the Bronte family in a new and original light.”

Filming on the two hour drama begins on location in and around Yorkshire from the beginning of May.

NINA GOLD CASTING SEARCHING FOR BOY & TEEN ACTORS FOR EXCITING NEW TELEVISION PROJECT

SUMMARY:

CROSSING THE BORDER is a brilliant new 4-part drama by Peter Kosminsky ("Wolf Hall"; "The Promise"; "Britz"; "The Government Inspector') for Channel 4.

This is a drama about the Islamic State – and the British men and women who travel to Syria to join it. It isn’t about radicalisation. It starts on the Turkish border. It’s about life in the Caliphate – why some Brits might choose to go there, what happens to them while they’re there and why some of them might decide to leave and try to get home.

It’s fiction – but based on a year of intensive research.

We are not looking for highly experienced stage school kids. We are looking for natural, appealing and charismatic London teenagers with good energy who can rise to the challenge of playing a leading role opposite a top-notch cast.

USHNA (Female)
Aged 16 -19yrs. Asian British. Londoner.
Small and soft but with an iron resolve and surprisingly steely determination.
A terrific leading role in this major new series.

JALAL (Male)

This is a major leading part in this drama. We are keen to see very sharp, street-smart British Asian performers who are aged 19 for this remarkable tv opportunity.

ISAAC (Male)
Aged 8 – 12yrs. Black British.
We are looking for a very talented, serious, soulful boywho has great maturity for his age. He is not a posh boy - he has grown up in London suburbs with a very articulate and dynamic mother. He is gentle, methodical, organised and perceptive beyond his years. He should be hugely charismatic and must be able to hold his own alongside adult actors.

PLEASE ONLY EMAIL IF YOU ARE SUITABLE FOR ONE OF THE ABOVE ROLES

EMAIL KATE AT info@ninagold.co.uk with a quick picture and contact details and mention which role you are suited to.

21 year old newcomer Anders Hayward and Screenterrier Face to WatchAde Oyefeso star in Foreign Bodies, a new eight-part comedic drama for E4, being co-produced with American channel TNT.

Foreign Bodies is the story of a motley crew of travellers embarking on a three-month tourist trip across China, Thailand and Vietnam, and features a trans-atlantic cast.

Dancer and model Anders Hayward (represented by Troika) makes his TV debut as the delusional romantic Dylan, who thinks every woman he meets is a potential life partner.

23 year old Ade Oyefeso (represented by Troika) plays Sean, a friendly, easy-going guy hoping for a bit of escapism. Ade, was one of BAFTA's Breakthrough Brits in 2013 after making his TV debut in Youngers and went on to star in Our Girl and Unforgotten.

They are joined by emerging Canadian star Brittney Wilson, who plays blunt and headstrong Ashley, a young American student who is academically intelligent but emotionally unintelligent.

And American singer-songwriter and actress Alice Lee stars as May, a highly strung worrier who tends to overthink every situation.

British actor, writer, performance poet and Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Tim Key makes up the travelling group, as Greg, a 38-year-old in denial about his marriage, his business and life in general. His upbeat energy hides a multitude of problems…

All the members of the gang have personal quests that have brought them halfway round the world. May wants to meet her extended family in China and reconnect with her roots, Ashley is hell-bent on cramming in a lifetime of exotic experiences before she starts her high-flying career back home, Dylan wants to track down and win back his ex-girlfriend, Sean wants to shed his innocence, and Greg, a divorcee who doesn't want to travel alone, hopes to roll back the years and relive the wild hedonism of his youth. In the end, they may or may not get what they hoped for, but they'll all come away with something better: The realisation that no matter how far you go, no matter how hard you try, you can't take a holiday from yourself.

The new eight-part drama was created by actor-writer Tom Basden, with episodes by Basden, James Wood, Amy Roberts, Loren McLaughlin, Charlie Covell, Tim Key and Jonny Sweet.

Foreign Bodies is produced by Jamie Campbell and Joel Wilson's BAFTA-nominated production company Eleven and global studio eOne. Award-winning director Jonathan van Tulleken (Top Boy, Off Season, Misfits) will direct the first block of episodes.

Piers Wenger, head of drama for Channel 4, said "Tom Basden and the team of outstanding British writers have created a show that perfectly captures the hilarity of a gap year going wrong when five would-be travelers embark on an epic quest to find paradise…and themselves."

Foreign Bodies is scheduled to premiere on E4 in early 2017, followed later in the year by its U.S. debut on TNT.

Casting has been announced for Crazy Face, a bold new comedy horror series from the BAFTA award-winning creator of ‘Misfits’ Howard Overman, which begins filming this week in Bristol.

Filled with Overman’s dark humour and unexpected twists, Crazy Face is described as a funny, gripping series about friendship, love and facing your demons that follows the angst and exorcisms of an unlikely duo of demon hunters.

26 year old Cara Theobold stars as Amy, an unlikely demon-hunter who works in a bowling alley and never really imagined herself battling the legions of hell. When people die most go quietly into the night. But some have unfinished business: scores to settle, blood to spill, axes to plant in people's heads...These tormented souls work through their issues by possessing the living. Most of the time they walk freely amongst us, unseen by all but a special few and Amy is one of those few.

Cara (represented by Curtis Brown), who trained at Guildhall, played  Ivy in Downton Abbey,  and went on to star as Ellen, in Jonny Sweet's BBC comedy Together, as well as playing the female lead in ITV's Harry Price : Ghost Hunter.

Susan Wokoma plays fellow demon hunter Raquel. Armed with Wikipedia and a baton she bought on e-bay, Raquel's a self-made demon hunter with a whole lot of baggage and an impressive lack of social skills. 28 year old Susan (represented by Scott Marshall), who trained at RADA,  was most recently seen playing Tracey's oddball sister Cynthia in the award-winning E4 comedy, Chewing Gum.

An unlikely friendship is born as Amy and Raquel attempt to navigate their way through the choppy waters of their early twenties whilst simultaneously kicking the ass of some seriously gnarly demons. What could possibly go wrong?

Crazy Face also stars Riann Steele as Amy’s best friend Suzanne; Lewis Reeves as her workmate-with-a-massive crush Jake; Arinze Kene as Raquel’s level-headed older brother Tyler, with Tony Curran as the sinister Callum.

Piers Wenger, Channel 4 Head of Drama says: “Howard has been responsible for defining drama on E4 and with Crazy Face he’s proved himself to be on thrilling, anarchic and utterly rude form. We are delighted to welcome him back to the channel and to work with our partners at Urban Myth Films and Netflix to realise the ambition of this bold and brilliant series.”

Crazy Face is produced by Urban Myth Films for Channel 4 in association with Netflix. Crazy Face will be broadcast in the UK exclusively on E4, with Netflix streaming the series globally following E4’s UK premiere.
