Meet the two Eastenders newcomers
Meet the two new young actors who have joined the Eastenders cast this month.
18 year newcomer Tilly Keeper (represented by D&B) from Chislehurst takes on the role of Louise Mitchell, her first television role.
The daughter of Lisa Fowler and Phil Mitchell, Louise was last seen in EastEnders back in August 2010 after she had been living with Phil. Louise was reunited with Lisa after Peggy feared Phil was in no state to look after his daughter. Shortly after, Phil turned up to visit Louise but was stunned to find her and Lisa had vanished. How will the pair react when they finally come face-to-face again? Now fourteen years old, Louise has a fraught relationship with her mum and is determined to become a true Mitchell. However will she be able to look past Phil’s out of control drinking and how will she fit in with the rest of the Mitchell clan including her half-brother, Ben?
On joining the show, Tilly Keeper says: “I am so thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders, especially to be joining the Mitchell clan! It’s a dream come true and I can’t wait to get stuck into the role and see what lies in store for Louise.”
22 year old Joivan Wade (represented by Sainou) will also be joining the cast as Jordan Johnson, the son of 'evil' Lucas. Jordan, now 20, left Walford in 2010 to live with his aunt but returns an angry and damaged young man who will turn Denise and her family’s lives upside down.
Joivan, a graduate of The Brit School, is a co-writer and star of the critically acclaimed online comedy series Mandem on The Wall, and was a series regular in two series of E4's Youngers. He starred as Rigsy in recent Series 8 of Doctor Who to massive critical acclaim and will return for Series 9.
On landing the role Joivan said: “Coming into EastEnders is an absolute dream. Jordan is going through a very tough time and needs people in his corner but with a Dad like Lucas will he be able to trust anyone? It’s going to be brilliant to play him and I can’t wait to get started.”

Kiss Me First
An adaptation of Lottie Moggach's best-selling Young Adult novel Kiss Me First is coming to E4 and Netflix.
And the new six-part series has been written by the creator of Skins, Bryan Elsley.
Described as an innovative and emotional thriller, Kiss Me First tells the story of Leila, a lonely 17 year old girl who is addicted to a fictional online gaming site called Agora. While in Agora, Leila meets Tess, a cool and confident party girl who harbours a dark secret. In the real world, the two girls become friends, but after Tess disappears Leila decides to assume her friend’s identity and in doing so is quickly drawn into unravelling the mystery behind her disappearance.
The series will combine live action with computer-generated virtual world sequences to create the parallel worlds of Leila and Tess’ real life and that of their online alteregos ‘Shadowfax’ and ‘Mania’ in the virtual world of Agora.
It will also feature state of the art animation sequences evoking the world of Agora and the stories of the young people who meet clandestinely there. This virtual world alongside live action narrative will provide a platform for exploring the loneliness and isolation experienced by young people and the disparity between appearance and reality in the social media age.
Piers Wenger, Head of Drama at Channel 4, said; “This is a thrilling and truly ground-breaking series which takes an emotional look at the lives of a group of young gamers and the truth which exists behind their online life. We are thrilled to be welcoming Bryan Elsley back to E4 to lead a group of new writers and to helm this exciting new show.”
Bryan Elsley, writer and Executive Producer, added; “I'm very excited to be working with E4 again alongside Balloon, award winning Kindle Entertainment, Netflix and our brilliant animators Axis. We hope to thrill and mystify our audience on a headlong ride through emotions, intrigue and virtual reality.”
The series will be produced by Balloon– the production company co-owned by Bryan Elsley and Harry Enfield - and Kindle Entertainment for Channel 4 in association with Netflix.
Production on Kiss Me First will begin in 2016, with casting still to be announced.

First look at Sing Street
Here's a first look at newcomer Ferdia Walsh-Peelo who stars alongside Lucy Boynton in a coming-of-age film set in 1980s Dublin, featuring a memorable '80s soundtrack with hits from the likes of The Cure, Duran Duran, The Police, The Jam and Genesis.
Talented singer Ferdia, from Wicklow, who has his own band in reality, stars as 14 year old Conor, who is forced out of his comfortable private school by an economic recession and into survival mode at the inner-city public school where the kids are rough and the teachers are rougher.

REEL SCENE ACTING EVENT MARCH
Only three months to go until the Reel Scene March Event and we are still riding high off the back of our event before Christmas! We are incredibly pleased and proud to say that EVERYONE who attended our last event was signed by a visiting agent - that’s an incredible 100% success rate!
Do you want to be the next graduate of our programme? Are you looking to get signed by an agent? If so sign up NOW to be a part of our upcoming Reel Scene Event in March.
At Reel Scene we were proud and excited to find that all the professionals who supported our event had such a great time that they can’t wait to come back! We’ve also been chatting with more agents, professional actors and directors. Watch this space - there may just be some new and talented guests attending the next Reel Scene Event!
Experience has taught me that there are so many actors out there wanting to launch their careers but unsure of how to get started, progress or land an agent. I’ve seen actors equipped with unprofessional headshots and showreels and talented people who are enrolling on acting courses without seeing any real results. There are some amazing courses out there and enrolling on them is great, provided that you know what you want to achieve. If you are looking for further training then putting your skills into practice can only be a positive thing, but I know many actors that attend courses for years and are still no further along in their careers.
You wouldn’t attend a job interview without doing your homework and researching the role and company. There is absolutely no difference here. Navigating your way down a successful career path in acting requires preparation and investment.
At the Reel Scene Event, we offer the opportunity to meet and network with the industry, perfect your craft and audition for representation.
To break it down, our event includes industry professional seminars and an intense schedule of training activities. You will network with, perform in front of and be coached by professional acting coaches and actors currently working in film and television. You will be directed by a Hollywood director in a professional studio and shoot a short project for inclusion on a professional showreel intended to provide you with more exposure. Throughout the week you will be invited to audition in front of agents and casting directors for the chance to obtain representation.
The bar has been well and truly set by the talented lot who participated in the October event! The high standard and professionalism demonstrated by the actors astounded the casting directors, agents and directors, with everyone obtaining the representation they most certainly deserved.
Kickstart your New Year’s resolutions by actively pursuing your dreams. We provide actors of all standards with the training, tools, networking and auditioning opportunities to progress their acting careers. What are you waiting for? Join the Reel Scene today and take advantage of our January offer! http://www.reelscene.co.uk.0207 849 4525, info@reelscene.co.uk .

The Kids Casting Agency
A new Channel 4 observational documentary series called The Kids Casting Agency will take a look inside Bizzykidz, one of the largest children’s talent agencies in the UK, to enter the extraordinary and competitive world of young stars, wannabe models and some of their powerhouse parents, many of whom are chasing fame and fortune before they’ve even left school.
The four one-hour episodes will follow these children and their parents from the highs and lows of competitive casting to winning some of the most exciting jobs in show business. From dressing as zombies in the rain, jetting off to the Caribbean for a modelling shoot and appearing in a West End show we observe the pressures of trying to make a name for yourself under not only the spotlight, but also the watchful gaze of mum and dad.
Bizzykidz Talent agency is run by no-nonsense owner Debi, who alongside her team, navigates the careers of over 1,300 wannabes. From models to actresses, singers and dancers, they cover the full spectrum of the performers of the future. The series will circumnavigate this sometimes cut throat industry, whether you are 6 or 16. According to the agency no age is too young to start a busy career in the industry, modelling is one of the only professions where you can start working within a few days of being born. You can even have your face splashed across billboards and social media accounts before you’ve spoken your first words. Whether you are the son of an ex-banker, a pair of sisters both trying to make it big or a 10 month old whose mother wants to be able to afford private education, there are a whole range of motivations for wanting to become a star, and we’ll meet them all.
Commissioning Editor David Brindley says, ‘From future pop stars to powerhouse parents, wannabe models to musical theatre stars, The Kids Casting Agency is as entertaining as the world in which it’s set. From within one of Britain’s busiest kids casting agencies, this series uncovers a fascinating world, discovering why children want to become famous and how their parents feel about entering this cut-throat world. It’s a series full of warmth and wit, celebrating Britain’s most talented tots.’
Twofour’s Creative Director David Clews says, “We live in a society where fame has never been more accessible for children, but as this series reveals it takes hard work, talent and a lot of cuteness to reach the top of your game, especially when you’re 4 feet tall. We’ll take the viewer centre stage of the exciting world of child talent as kids and parents chase their ultimate dream.”

Casting call for new British dance feature film
OFFBEAT is an exciting and quirky new British dance feature film about a couple of teenage outcasts who come up with a crazy scheme to gain street cred at their school. It’s a mix between BILLY ELLIOT and NAPOLEON DYNAMITE.
It is being produced by Wigwam Films and the director is the amazing Arno Salters. The film is being supported by Creative England and it will shoot this summer 2016.
Manuel Puro Casting are looking for the following two lead roles:
DANNY - to play 15 years old but must be 16 years or over by July 1st 2016.
Any size, shape or ethnicity!
Danny is a teenager with a strange predicament. Whenever he hears music, he completely loses control of his body and starts moving manically to the beat as if he was possessed. This has turned him into a bit of a social outcast, awkward and endearingly vulnerable. OFFBEAT tells the story of how Danny goes from being a victim of his predicament to controlling it.
The right candidate does not need to have any formal dance training or be great at dancing - we need someone with an unorthodox approach to moving with music. And of course he must be a great actor too!
Instructions for how to audition for this role can be downloaded by clicking here.
CASSIUS - to play 15 years old but must be 16 years or over by July 1st 2016.
Any size, shape or ethnicity!
Cassius is a teenager with awesome dance moves. No one at school recognises his talent but that doesn't stop him from oozing with confidence and thinking of himself as the next Justin Timberlake. He agrees to teach Danny to dance as long as he'll agree to be his backing dancer.
The right candidate needs to be a brilliant actor and dancer - either trained or self-taught - in any dance discipline (hip hop, breakdance, pop, contemporary etc).

The Aliens come to E4
Spotted any of those messages from The Alien League that have been interrupting normal programming across Channel 4 shows as well as on radio, YouTube and in the cinema?
It's an innovative new marketing campaign for E4's new six-part drama The Aliens, which airs in March.
The culture-clash comedy drama with the premise that aliens have been living amongst us for decades. stars Michael Socha (represented by The Artists Partnership) as Lewis, a mild-mannered border guard who mans the checkpoint between the alien ghetto and the human side of the wall. But when he discovers that he is the world’s first half-alien, he finds himself drawn into a world of divided loyalties and a search for his own identity.
Michaela Coel (writer and star of E4's Chewing Gum), stars as Lilyhot, an enigmatic and alluring alien who is deeply embroiled in one of Troy’s criminal gangs. When Lewis crosses her path, her fate and his become inextricably entwined.
The series also stars Jim Howick, Michael Smiley and Ashley Walters.
Aliens have been among us since they crash-landed in the UK 40 years ago. Though they look and behave exactly like us, they are forced to live a segregated life, behind a huge wall in a ghetto called Troy. It’s a hedonistic and ramshackle town, unpoliced and filled with gangs who make a living smuggling alien hair out of Troy to be smoked as a drug by humans.
The new E4 series was created by Fintan Ryan, directed by Jonathan Van Tulleken and Lawrence Gough, and produced by Clerkenwell Films who bought us the hugely successful Misfits.
The series was cast by Rosalie Clayton.
Channel 4’s Roberto Troni, who commissioned the series alongside Head of Drama Piers Wenger, said: “Scabrously funny, shockingly violent and at times positively hallucinogenic, Aliens is a wry and riotous adventure into a world that is at once entirely familiar and absolutely strange. It’s a culture clash, a gangster epic, but fundamentally it is an all too human search for acceptance and identity.”
