Casting is currently underway for the children in a fictionalised TV adaptation series of the bestselling memoir, Love, Nina for BBC1.
The memoir was written by Nina Stibbe and adapted for TV by Nick Hornby (About A Boy, Fever Pitch).
Rehearsals will be first week September and shooting period will be for a 6 weeks from 7th September.
Any child that is cast will be required to be fully licensed via the Local Education Authority and, if filming is during school time, they will be provided with tutors and chaperones- as per child licensing laws.
The children we cast in these roles need to be very bright as they have to handle a lot of complicated dialogue so only apply if you think your child is capable of this.
PAUL (10 yrs) (Male)
PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOUR CHILD IS OVER THE AGE OF 12 OR IF YOUR CHILD DOESN’T HAVE AN RP ACCENT
We will be auditioning boys who are between 9 and 12 yrs only (playing age around 10).
Oldest son of a successful film director and literary editor (divorced). Incredibly charismatic child – confident and quick-witted, ‘with an extraordinary capacity for happiness. always smiling and joking’. Has Riley-Day syndrome, which affects the development of his vision and nervous system, but his disabilities are not obviously visible in his appearance. Although physically frail, he tends to have the upper hand when it comes to verbal battles with his brother. Bolshy, determined and somewhat bloody-minded at times. An ardent West Ham supporter, he has a habit of shouting the name 'Trevor Brooking' whenever he wants to block out an uncomfortable conversation. An intelligent, funny, unique child. Both boys are used to talking about adult subjects, without a complete awareness of what they are saying. Topics range from STDs, nuclear war, religion, neighbour's affairs, literature and art.
Privately educated, RP accent. Lead role in all 5 episodes.
Audition info: Please film your child auditioning with the attached script (see below). Can they also introduce themselves to camera briefly with an interesting/clever fact. Once you have taped your child please upload to either vimeo or youtube or any other site where we can stream the audition. Or if the video file is small enough attach it to the email. We do not want to have to download audition videos. If your child is successful we will be in touch to bring them in for a casting in London. Please note we can not respond to each individual audition.
