The Disney Channel has teamed up with Lime Pictures, makers of Nickelodeon's House of Anubis, to film the first live-action Disney series to be shot in the UK.
The four-part supernatural series called Evermoor will tell the story of a 14-year-old girl, Tara Bailey, uprooted from her urban American home to move to rural "middle England" with her best-selling novelist mother and British stepfather, with the blended family of four children soon discovering all is not what it seems.
Evermoor will be filmed in a studio in Warrington and on location in Cheshire's Arley Hall which will become "Evermoor Manor".
David Levine, vice president of programming, production and strategic development for Disney Channels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: "It gives us a great opportunity to work with British talent both in front and behind of the camera.
"We will take full advantage of the fact it is a series set in a British village, with an incredible British backdrop and location at the heart of the story. You'll see a lot of imagery and settings that will be very different to things we have done before but it is produced for a global audience."
The series, described by Disney as a "mystery adventure punctuated with comedy", will air this autumn, and will be shown on the Disney Channel in more than 160 countries.
