Taron, orginally from Aberystwyth in Wales, graduated from RADA last year and went straight into playing Daniel in The Last of the Haussmans at the National Theatre followed by a role in Polly Stenham's No Quarter at the Royal Court. He will next be seen in new Sky1 drama The Smoke but The Secret Service will be his feature film debut.
He will play a street kid whose uncle (Colin Firth) teaches him how to be a secret agent. Millar has described The Secret Service as "My Fair Lady meets James Bond."
Variety previously reported that Vaughn met with young British actors that included Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, who recently landed the staring role in Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken, and Attack the Block star John Boyega. But the director decided to open the search up even further, which led to him coming across Egerton.
The search is now on to cast the female love-interest with potentials reported to include Emma Watson and Dark Shadows actress Bella Heathcote.
The Secret Service is due to start shooting this autumn with a potential release date of November 2014.
