It's an innovative new marketing campaign for E4's new six-part drama The Aliens, which airs in March.
The culture-clash comedy drama with the premise that aliens have been living amongst us for decades. stars Michael Socha (represented by The Artists Partnership) as Lewis, a mild-mannered border guard who mans the checkpoint between the alien ghetto and the human side of the wall. But when he discovers that he is the world’s first half-alien, he finds himself drawn into a world of divided loyalties and a search for his own identity.
Michaela Coel (writer and star of E4's Chewing Gum), stars as Lilyhot, an enigmatic and alluring alien who is deeply embroiled in one of Troy’s criminal gangs. When Lewis crosses her path, her fate and his become inextricably entwined.
The series also stars Jim Howick, Michael Smiley and Ashley Walters.
Aliens have been among us since they crash-landed in the UK 40 years ago. Though they look and behave exactly like us, they are forced to live a segregated life, behind a huge wall in a ghetto called Troy. It’s a hedonistic and ramshackle town, unpoliced and filled with gangs who make a living smuggling alien hair out of Troy to be smoked as a drug by humans.
The new E4 series was created by Fintan Ryan, directed by Jonathan Van Tulleken and Lawrence Gough, and produced by Clerkenwell Films who bought us the hugely successful Misfits.
The series was cast by Rosalie Clayton.
Channel 4’s Roberto Troni, who commissioned the series alongside Head of Drama Piers Wenger, said: “Scabrously funny, shockingly violent and at times positively hallucinogenic, Aliens is a wry and riotous adventure into a world that is at once entirely familiar and absolutely strange. It’s a culture clash, a gangster epic, but fundamentally it is an all too human search for acceptance and identity.”
