Here's a first look at newcomer Ferdia Walsh-Peelo who stars alongside Lucy Boynton in a coming-of-age film set in 1980s Dublin, featuring a memorable '80s soundtrack with hits from the likes of The Cure, Duran Duran, The Police, The Jam and Genesis.

Talented singer Ferdia, from Wicklow, who has his own band in reality, stars as 14 year old Conor, who is forced out of his comfortable private school by an economic recession and into survival mode at the inner-city public school where the kids are rough and the teachers are rougher.

21 year old Lucy Boynton (represented by United Agents), who previously starred in the BBC's Ballet Shoes and more recently Canal+'s The Borgias co-stars as the mysterious and ultra-cool Raphina, whose heart Conor aims to win by inviting her to star in his band's music videos.

She agrees, and Conor must deliver what he’s promised – calling himself “Cosmo” and immersing himself in the vibrant rock music trends of the ‘80s, he forms a band with a few lads, and the group pours their hearts into writing lyrics and shooting videos.

The film also stars Aidan Gillen and Maria Doyle Kennedy as Conor's parents, and Jack Reynor as his older brother.

Sing Street is written and directed by John Carney, and was cast by Louise Kiely.

Lionsgate UK will release Sing Street in cinemas in Ireland on 18th March and across the UK on 22nd April 2016.
