Lucy (represented by A&J Management) made her screen debut as young April in the Emmy-award winning Dustbin Baby and has gone on to appear in various TV roles including Eastenders, Little Crackers, The Poison Tree and Dani's Castle. She also played Scout in the Regent's Park Open Air Production of To Kill A Mockingbird.
The Kennedys is a six-part aspirational family comedy loosely based on actress, writer and TV presenter Emma Kennedy's memoirs ‘The Tent, The Bucket and Me.’ Each episode is introduced by Emma Kennedy, played by Lucy, a 10-year-old Star Wars obsessed tom-boy who is happy to tag along with her much-loved parents, Brenda and Tony Kennedy played by Katherine Parkinson and Dan Skinner.
The Kennedy family have just moved into a new estate in Stevenage, New Town and arrive to a concrete maze of identical houses. Delighted and enthused at the fact they are now on the cusp of being considered middle class, they quickly embrace community spirit and organise activities for the whole neighbourhood to get involved in. In each episode, The Kennedys pursue every opportunity they can to climb the social ladder from organising an ‘Opportunity Knocks’ style talent show to hosting the estate’s first ever dinner party.
In the first episode, Brenda invites best friends Tim (Harry Peacock) and Jenny (Emma Pierson) and new neighbours the Palmers (Shola Adewusi and Clive Rowe) for an evening no-one will ever forget. Having never cooked anything other than an egg, Brenda quickly shifts all responsibility for the dinner party and cooking the lasagne on to Tony.
Meanwhile young Emma is put out when arch-rival Julie gains control of the play fort - which nobody is allowed in to unless they know her secret whisper. Emma realizes that in order to wrestle control from her nemesis, she needs to create a secret whisper to end all secret whispers.
The six-part aspirational family comedy, set in the 1970s, is created and written by actress, writer and TV presenter Emma Kennedy. It is loosely based on her memoirs, The Tent, The Bucket and Me.
