Legendary choreographer Dave Scott (STEP UP 3D, STOMP THE YARD, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?) will be choreographing the routines for this ballet meets hip hop tale of a struggling British musician in New York and the talented American ballerina he meets who changes his world.
The director is Michael Damian.

JOHNNIE BLACKWELL (Male) 19 - 22. Very good looking, brooding and street-wise, Johnnie can’t get a job without a work visa, so he takes up busking in the subways for cash. But when he meets classical dancer Ruby during a hip hop battle gone wrong, they immediately clash but he can’t deny the chemistry between them. After a battle of their own, Ruby manages to talk Johnnie into competing with her in a music and dance competition that could change Johnnie’s life forever.
ACCENT: BRITISH
SKILLS: Must be able to play the VIOLIN to a high standard
DANCE: must also be able to move, but does not need to be an expert (they dance a tango!)
BALLET ROLES:
RUBY (Female) 18 - 21. Stunning, willowy and bright eyed young ballerina raised in Iowa. She's a country girl whose scholarship takes her to New York to the prestigious Manhattan School of the Arts. She's a fish out of water, but finds friendship and a new way of life in the big city. Adapting to the culture shock isn't made any easier when Ruby falls for troubled musician Johnnie Blackwell.

JAZZY (Female) 18 - 23. Pretty, fun loving JAZZY is an amazing dancer, with incredible grace. But she eventually slips into bad habits and too much partying and too many late nights could ruin her chances of keeping her place at the school. With Ruby's help, Jazzy manages to get back on the right path before it’s too late.

APRIL (Female) 18 - 23, Gorgeous and popular, APRIL is the best dancer in the school and she knows it. Very 'Alpha Female', she's not happy when Ruby starts to get attention from KYLE, the hottest guy in school, so April is determined to put the Iowa girl in her place and get her out of the school.

HIP HOP ROLES:
POPTART (Female) 19 - 21. One of the two girls in the SwitchSteps dance crew. POPTART, may love her hair, nails and girly attitude, but this girl is a fierce dancer and she can hold her own in any battle. She takes Ruby under her wing and is determined to help her loosen up.

KRISPY (Male) 19 - 21. One of the three roommates who live in the same apartment block as Johnnie. KRISPY is one of the featured dancers in the SwitchSteps Crew. He is also a passionate cook and the commander of the Crew's kitchen.
